Shirley Chalmers, Writer

Hi, I love to write poetry and short stories and am currently working on two novels.  I’ve had several poems and short stories published in various magazines and anthologies.  Some of my poetry has won awards in literary competitions.  Most recently two poems, ‘Rainbow Lorikeets’ and ‘Grandson’  were published in the quarterly magazine ‘The Australian Writer’,  the magazine of the Fellowship of Australian Writers. My husband Nigel and I now live in Victoria’s beautiful Gippsland countryside.  I’m a country girl at heart, though I’ve lived and worked in most of the Australian capital cities.  Retirement has given us the opportunity to choose where we live and the kind of lifestyle we enjoy, and most importantly to me, time to write.

You can read a series of short stories called ‘Old Wimps Out Walking’ on this blog.

  2. Shirley I noticed that you purchased and reviewed my book. Firstly how very sweet of you to do both! It is the 1st thing I have published (though self promoting) THANK YOU for being so kind to read and write that lovely review. I honestly haven’t had any other feedback other than family members (and they shall I say are a tad bias?) 🙂 If you have anything else you wish to say about it I would be interested…good or bad.

  3. Thank you for stopping by Shirley and looking at a bit of cuteness. 🙂 I have also put your lovely review on my post for my book 🙂
