Meet Gympie Girl -Shirley Chalmers

Shirley Chalmers won the 2013 Elyne Mitchell Writing Award for her story  The Onion Picker’s Daughter·, which was commercially published the following year by Melbourne Books in their Award Winning Australian Writing Anthology. Many of Shirley’s short stories have been published in magazines over the years and she has also published two volumes of poetry, as well as the recent biographical collection: Broken Buttons.

Shirley will be delighted to share her writing experiences and tips with others when she appears as a guest speaker at Gympie  library on Thursday 24th of August at 10am. Attendance is free, with morning tea and light refreshments to follow. Bookings are
